Accepting Payments
ZeroLedger offers two ways to accept payments, each designed for different use cases. Whether you're receiving funds from another ZeroLedger user or from someone using a regular wallet, we've got you covered.
Overview
Private Payment (ZeroLedger to ZeroLedger)- For receiving payments from other ZeroLedger users
- Instant private transfers directly to your private balance
- No waiting, no intermediate steps
- For receiving payments from users outside ZeroLedger (CEX, other wallets)
- Creates a one-time-use payment address
- Automatically converts received tokens to private balance
Get paid by ZeroLedger users
This is the simplest and fastest way to receive private payments.
How It Works
-
Open Receive Modal
- Click the "Receive" button from your wallet
-
Optional: Add Payment Details
- Amount: Enter the specific amount you're requesting (optional)
- Message: Add a note or description for your request (optional, max 32 characters)
💡 Tip: If you leave these fields empty, the payer can send any amount they choose.
-
Share Your Payment Information
You have two options:
Option A: QR Code- The QR code displays your wallet address (and amount/message if specified)
- Have the payer scan it with their ZeroLedger app
- They'll see all the payment details pre-filled
- Click the copy button next to your wallet address
- Send the address to the payer via message, email, etc.
- They can paste it into their ZeroLedger app
-
Receive Payment
- The payer opens their ZeroLedger app and sends the payment
- Funds appear within ~2 seconds in your private balance
- You'll see the transaction in your Activity tab
What the Payer Sees
When someone scans your QR code or enters your address:
- Your wallet address is automatically filled
- Amount and message (if you specified) appear in the send form
- They just need to confirm and send
Payment from External Wallet (Invoice Address)
Use this method when receiving payments from people who don't have ZeroLedger accounts.
How It Works
-
Open Receive Modal
- Click the "Receive" button from your wallet
- Toggle the payment type to "Receive from external wallet" (right position)
-
Set Payment Details (Required)
- Invoice Amount: The exact amount in USD you want to receive
- Invoice ID / Message: A unique identifier for this invoice (required, max 32 characters).
⚠️ Important: Both fields are required to generate an invoice address. -
Review Fees
The system will show you the invoice fee. These fees are included in the invoice amount automatically. The payer pays the amount you specified, and you receive the requested amount minus fees.
-
Generate Invoice Address
- Click "Generate Invoice Address" button
- Wait a few seconds while the system creates your unique payment address
- A one-time-use address appears below
-
Share Invoice
You can share the invoice address in two ways:
Option A: QR Code- Show the QR code to the payer
- They scan it with their wallet app
- The address is automatically filled
Option B: Copy Address- Click the copy button next to the invoice address
- Send it to the payer via message, email, etc.
- They paste it into their wallet as the recipient address
⚠️ Important: Never try to pay this invoice from a ZeroLedger wallet—the funds will be lost!
-
Payer Sends Tokens
The payer sends tokens to your invoice address from their wallet (MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, exchange, etc.)
-
Automatic Processing
Once the tokens arrive at the invoice address:
- ZeroLedger's automation system detects the payment
- Tokens are automatically deposited to your private balance
- You'll see the commitment in your Activity tab
- The invoice address is now used and cannot be reused
Understanding Invoice Addresses
One-Time Use Only- Each invoice address can only be used once
- After receiving payment, the address is consumed
- Generate a new invoice for each payment request
- Automated processing happens within 24 hours of payment
- After 24 hours, anyone can trigger processing (funds still go to you)
- This ensures your payment is never stuck
- Received tokens are automatically converted to private commitments
- The message you specified is included in the encrypted transaction data
- No manual action required from you
Privacy Note
Invoicing the same person repeatedly may reveal your address to them. However, they still cannot see:
- Your wallet balance
- Whether you received payments from others (each transaction shows 3 possible recipients: 1 real + 2 decoys)
- Who you send payments to
Tips & Best Practices
For Private Payments
- 📱 QR codes work great for in-person payments
- 💬 Use the message field to add context ("Dinner split", "Rent - March", etc.)
- 🔄 You can share the same address multiple times if needed
For Invoice Addresses
- 🆔 Use clear, unique invoice IDs to track payments
- ⏰ Share invoices promptly - they have a 24-hour priority window
- 🔒 Each invoice is single-use - generate new ones for each payment
- 💰 Double-check the amount before generating - invoices can't be edited
- 📋 Keep a record of invoice IDs in your own system if needed
Common Questions
Q: Can I cancel an invoice after generating it?
A: No. If someone sends funds to an invoice, it will be processed regardless of when it happens.
Q: What happens if someone sends the wrong amount to an invoice?
A: The invoice only processes when it receives the full amount. Partial payments remain at the invoice address until the total is reached.
Q: Can I receive multiple payments at once?
A: Yes! Generate multiple invoices or share your address with multiple ZeroLedger users.
Q: Do I pay any fees when receiving payments?
A: No. For private payments, the sender pays fees. For invoices, fees are included in the amount the payer sends.
Q: How do I know when I've received a payment?
A: Check your Activity tab. Your private balance updates automatically when payments are processed.
